Well done to all the members of FOMS (Friends of Mill Rythe Infant School) for a really successful Christmas Shopping Evening last Wednesday.  Not only was it a very successful evening in terms of the sum of money raised but it was a wonderful community event . . .

As this half term comes to a close can I remind you that Friday, 24 October has been allocated as one of the five non-pupil days that the government has designated for staff training? School finishes on Thursday with the FOMS Hallowe'en Disco and we all return on Monday, 3 November.

Can I say "thank you" and "well done" to the 32 children who came along to St Mary's Parish Church on Sunday and sang the 'Harvest Song'? Mrs Lazell and I were very proud of them.

Yesterday after assembly I reminded the children that their Reading Challenge cards should be back in school by tomorrow, Wednesday, so that I can see how well they have done. We intend to have a celebration on Friday afternoon.

A warm welcome back.  It has been lovely to see how much the children have grown during the summer break and we are delighted with the maturity they are showing as they build new class groups.

It was with great sadness that we said our goodbyes this morning in assembly to Mrs Williams, Miss Carter and Miss Shedden.  We send them off with warm good wishes and our thanks for all they have contributed to the life at Mill Rythe.

The first of the Year 2 groups left yesterday for their 21/2 day visit to Minstead in the New Forest and we know that they will have a wonderful experience.

This week we would just like to remind you of the events planned for the rest of this term - and we also refer you to the school calendar for the next academic year.  Please note that the first day back, Wednesday 3 September, is a non-pupil day, so the children will return to school on Thursday 4 September.

Last night the staff stayed late to welcome new parents of the 75 children we admit to Mill Rythe next September.  We were very proud of the small group of current pupils who put on a very professional fashion show promoting the school uniform!
