Organisation WELCOME
Mill Rythe Infant School, purpose-built in 1974, stands in a delightful natural setting of trees, grassland and shrubs through which paths have been cut to encourage children to explore. It shares this site with the neighbouring Junior School. The name Mill Rythe dates back to Victorian times when the centre of Hayling Island had a busy commercial quay for the transport of coal and grain. The word "rythe" means stream. The quay, and the mill, which were just outside the school grounds, disappeared many years ago but the name still persists. Our school is a non-demoninational infant school for girls and boys. We enjoy foundation status but do not charge fees. AccessibilityThe Governing Body has made modifications to the school building in order that adults and children can enjoy a good working environment that does not exclude anyone with a disability. Equal OpportunitiesOur aim is to provide equality of opportunity to all our pupils irrespective of gender, race or disability. Children will be helped to understand that we live in a multi-cultural society, and to show respect and appreciation of differing cultures. Racism will be dealt with promptly and firmly at the time of the incident.
