Learning LearningThe school day is varied and interesting for children. Some time is spent in whole classes, some working in small groups of five or six children, other time is spent on a one-to-one basis with the teacher or a teaching assistant giving individual attention.
Literacy and numeracy are important features in all learning and lessons are taught in line with the Government's strategies. Each day children are invited to take part in an "act of worship" (assembly). Assemblies sometimes include visitors and are of a broadly Christian nature. Parents have the right to withdraw their child from assembly and requests can be made to the Headteacher to do so in writing. Click here to view the Collective Worship Policy The teachers within each year group work very closely together planning and moderating children's work ensuring that children across that year group have similar learning experiences and expectations. Within the constraints of the budget, learning support assistant help for each class is a priority for the Governors. Children are usually grouped within class according to ability so that they can receive challenging and interesting work at an appropriate level. The class teacher is responsible for setting the work for the children and maintaining displays that celebrate pupils' work, and that stimulate and enhance their learning. |
