Learning/Assessment

Assessment, Recording and Reporting

At Mill Rythe Infant School we:

  • invite parents in during the first year of schooling in order that they may have one-to-one discussions about the Foundation Stage Profile with teachers and teaching assistants.
  • provide a mini report in autumn and spring and these together with more detailed information in the summer form the Annual Report.
  • Open events linked to the outcome of Units of Work are arranged so that parents can come into school and see the work their child has achieved.
  • Parents may choose to book personal one-to-one interviews with their child's teacher at any time.
  • As work books are completed they are sent home.

We operate an Open Door Policy:

  • any parent can make an appointment to see the class teacher after school at a time that is mutually convenient, to discuss progress or if they or their child have worries or concerns
  • the Headteacher is also eager to meet parents and children to celebrate good progress or to discuss problems - one of the office administrators will be happy to arrange the earliest possible appointment.

Details records are kept for each child.  Parents are entitled to see these records, but must give notice.  When the time comes for a child to transfer to another school, either on Hayling or elsewhere, the records ensure a smooth transition.  Some records are held and transferred electronically.
